Vicky Sargent

Client Services Director

Vicky read History and Economics at St Anne's College, Oxford. Vicky worked for PA Consulting and Shandwick before becoming the first CEO of the Design Business Association. Vicky formed Abet CMC (the company which became Boilerhouse) with Joe Tibbetts in 1992.

Vicky specializes in providing marketing, communication and business development advice for not-for-profit organisations including government departments, local authorities, the education sector, training and enterprise organisations and trade and professional bodies. Vicky was a member of the Working Group on Design for the European Commission 1989 - 1992; has served as a governor in two F&HE colleges, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and was Consultant Director of Education for British Design & Art Direction 1995-1999. Vicky was a judge for the Forum Web Awards (COI Communications) in '03 & '04.

Jonathan Sivyer

Design Director

Jonathan initially graduated in Biological Sciences and while working with medical publishers in Oxford became involved in marketing and design projects.

This led to a post-graduate degree in Graphic Design, also in Oxford. Past work includes design projects for Charles Worthington, Alstom, WHSmith, The National Express Group, Siemens, Samsung and the Teacher Training Agency. More recently Jonathan has been leading design projects for two of the National Projects initiated by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, plus projects for other organisations such as BP, Fathers Direct, Icomos UK, Sunfold Systems, The British Council, Socitm (Society of Information Technology Management) and The Hook Norton Brewery.

Joe Tibbetts

Development Director

Joe was Creative Director and then MD of International Design Marketing (IDM) from 1984 until 1992. He set up Boilerhouse with Vicky Sargent in 1992.

Joe has worked on projects for organisations in Japan, America, India, Brazil, the Philippines and Europe. Clients included Shimadzu, Toyota Lexus, Levi Strauss, British Airports Authority, Osaka Gas, British Council, DTI and the Design Council.

Joe currently serves on the Executive Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites and was Chief Executive of The International Council of Graphic Design Associations1999-2001. He was made a fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers in 1992 and a fellow of the RSA in 1998. Joe often speaks at conferences and regularly contributes to publications including Design Week and The Sunday Times. He has written and presented documentary programmes for BBC Radio 4.
